I just noticed that the title of all my posts so far have started with the letter G. I hope that doesn’t mean that will have to be the way it remains. And, it might be a fun challenge. We’ll see 🙂
I have been meaning to write about all the “good omens” we’ve been receiving for about the last month and I’m finally making it happen.
Good omen number one: School ended in a very positive way on June 7th. I was proud of myself for remaining as present as possible, loving on my students, showing my appreciation for my coworkers from the past eight years, and feeling at peace. I am happy to say that peace has remained.
Good omen number two: We live in an amazing area of Saint Paul between Como Park and the State Fairgrounds. We are very close with our neighbors and everyone takes care of each other. We have been praying that good renters would be sent to us and that we would know when it was right and that is exactly what happened! One of our neighbors who had heard that we were looking for renters reached out to me and mentioned that her coworkers parents were looking to move to The Twin Cities from Florida. I welcomed her to put us in touch and we arranged for them to come look at our house that following Saturday.
Good omen number three: The son of the couple looking to rent, and his family, just happened to live a five minute walk away so they came over Saturday morning with his parents on Face time. Our amazing realtor, who will be managing our rental for us, had brought one other group of people to look at the place but I wasn’t able to be there so it was really fun to hear them talk about how much they liked our house. We have lived here for 15 years and have done a lot of updates, most recently both bathrooms and new siding. They loved it and said that they were interested in renting by the time the tour was finished!
Good omen number four: The man who will be moving in just so happened to be in town the following weekend for Father’s Day so we were able to meet him and he was able to see the house in person.
Good omen number five: He also loves to garden so we know that he’ll take care of the yard.
Good omen number six: We had already planned a neighborhood party for that Friday so he was also able to come over and meet some of the neighbors!
We were hoping to move out closer to Sept. 1st but since they would like to get out of FL before hurricane season they are moving in Aug. 15th. One other mental pivot was that we were hoping to be able to rent it at least partially furnished but we can only leave the patio table and the corner desk. Emptying a house after living in it for 15 years is an undertaking and all the signs; we have a realtor, renters, a storage unit, movers and cleaners, have told us that we will be taken care of, and it will all work out so that is what I am holding on to!
