We finally received some information this week that will help move the planning process forward. Dave met with his boss and HR and was officially approved to work from wherever!!!
After much deliberation we decided to go the Air BnB route for our travels around the US. We realized it just didn’t make sense to drop upwards of $100,000 on a RV or Sprinter Van right before we go down to one income.
We will be renting our home while we’re traveling and are hoping to have renters by September 1st, in case you know anyone who might be interested 😉 Why September 1st? Mainly because I think it’ll be too hard being in Minnesota on the first day of school. I’m sure it will be weird to not be going back for the first time in 18 years, but being somewhere amazing is sure to help. It is an interesting juxtaposition to be getting everything you want and to feel a little sad about it.
Now that we have the go-ahead, our travel plans are coming to life. We will be heading East, with small stops including Green Bay, Door County and Porcupine Mountains as well as visiting friends in Michigan and Ohio. The route will lead us to our first long-term stay in Maine! Dave and I have only been to Maine once before and we loved it. We chose to rent an apartment in the town of Brewer which is only an hour drive to Acadia. It will be a dream come true to spend weekends there in the fall!
Needless to say we are VERY excited! It is surreal that this is actually happening. We have been dreaming about this for 12 years and now it is here. I cannot wait to see where this first year of travel takes us!
